Join Portland, Maine’s fastest growing ANCESTRAL FOOD business. WHOLEmade Meal Shares provides weekly bundles of nutritionally complete meals prepared from scratch using the highest quality, seasonally fresh, nutrient dense whole foods. We use produce from clean, local sources and prepare our meals using the traditional methods our great grandmothers used. All meals are Paleo-friendly and free of gluten, soy, corn, dairy and processed seed and vegetable oils.

SOUS CHEF

We are seeking an enthusiastic Sous Chef with aspirations to play an instrumental role in building our business. The successful candidate brings experience and skills working in a commercial kitchen and is ready to dive in to create their ideal career path as we scale.  If you are seeking a career job, are passionate about REAL FOOD, and want to work in a dynamic, high-energy environment this is the job for you.

Working directly with the Head Chef our Sous Chef will supervise and support the day-to-day operations of our kitchen including:

  • Menu and recipe design to our ancestral standards
  • Sourcing of ingredients and inventory
  • Kitchen Staff management
  • Meal Share production including prepping, cooking and packing

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
  • A passion for real food
  • Experience following and scaling recipes
  • Superior kitchen and food prep skills
  • Excellent people management skills
  • ServSafe Certified

Initially, this role will be approximately 14-18 hours/week including Sunday 12pm-6pm and Monday 8:30am-4:30pm. Additional hours Thursday/Friday as required and mutually arranged. This position is open for an immediate start. Remuneration is $10-$12/hour plus a weekly Meal Share valued at $75.
